Moving to Manila
Manila is the second largest city in the Philipines and is broken down in to sixteen districts. Manila is one of the most densely populated cities in the world.
Manila has not a very active expat community so we advice you to inform yourself well before moving there. Jobs in Manila are available for expats,
mainly to be found in engineering, science, sales and marketing.
The cost of living is average, low costs are products such as communication costs such as telehony and internet.
The costs are average because of the high housing and rental prices and overall the costs of groceries are high too in Manila.
There are international schools in Manila available, so if you are moving with your children they can be educated on high and international level.
Visa requirements for Manila
Whilst you should refer to your local Philippines embassy
for the most up to date listing, many passport holders can
arrive and stay in the Philippines for a period of 21 days
without needing special visa. Some exceptions to this ruling
are passport holders from:
- Brazil – up to 59 days
- Israel – up to 59 days
- Hong Kong – up to 7 days
- Portugal (issued in Macao) – up to 7 days
- Macao – up to 7 days
To arrange a visa for stays outside of your passport restrictions
you will need to have the following documents available for
processing:
- Passport that is valid for at least six months after your
intended stay in the Philippines
- Completed Visa application form
- Passport approved photos (x2)
- Proof that you are intending to stay for tourism or business
reasons
- Confirmed tickets for return or onward journey
- Payment of the correct visa processing fees
Processing of a visa is generally fast, with an expected
turnaround of just a few days. The visa processing fee varies
depending upon your country of origin and the total amount
of time you have requested for your visa approval. This can
vary between three months, six months or twelve months.
As with any international travel, it is always recommended
to check on the latest information regarding travel and visa
